Dumfries' own five piece rock band, Barstow Bats release their second EP Under My Skin via Smart Indie record label. Lead track Under My Skin is a cross between two fellow Scottish rockers, The Fratellis and The View. With an uptempo, upbeat track to start this EP off to a good start. Quite like the rhythm of this song especially the keyboard.
Colour of Money is a contrast to the first track it's a slower number and reminds me of Arctic Monkeys 'Why Do You Call Me When You're High?'. It shows the bands style of both rocky numbers and slower ones. The guitar in this is also amazing. This then goes to track three, Diamond Butterflies, a more acoustic track with guitar and piano. Diamond Butterflies is one of my personal highlights off the EP.
Just a Girl is track four and is another beautiful acoustic track with the piano following the guitar in this. The lyrics are also well written all about an ordinary girl who the guys falls for but finds out she died. Last track of the EP is the amazing Shades of Blue and is a beautiful song to end on.
