Album Review: Tiffany J - EVOLving
Rating: ★★★★
Soul inspiring is one phrase to describe Tiffany J's debut album, EVOLving. After performing with urban inspirational vocal group, Eternal Voices for over 10 years she's gone solo with this laid back chilled album. Opening track, EVOLving, sets up the album of discovery and journey about finding yourself and evolution. The piano based soul number transcends in Patiently Waiting a slow groove number, one of many on the album including Human (which you can hear above), One Day and One and Only.
Track 3 off Evolving is Movin On which could be mistaken for a track from Beyonce it's such a soulful and beautiful ballad. Tiffany's voice is really well showcased in this track. The girl can hit those high notes and has amazing pitch. In contrast, Being Me, is a uptempo-ed number about being yourself and loving yourself for it. It's definitely one of the most uplifting track from the album and also has a catchy guitar riff throughout. It's a theme throughout the album of appreciating yourself and loving it.
Big bang track, Scaredy Cat, is a personal favourite off Evolving. It's all about standing up for yourself in a relationship and not standing for nothing. The big band element is incredible especially love the trumpet piece in this and Tiffany shows that she can sing big songs like this as well as ballads. She has a versatile voice which is incredible.
Another uplifting track is New Side Chick which is an empowering number about not being a side chick to a guy and telling women they are better than that. Also they are all queens and deserve better. The beat is amazingly catchy as well as the catchy chorus. This is another stand out track. One Day is all about freedom and empowerment. It is all about peace and love and not worrying about a care in the world one day.
There's a couple of features in this album from Marcus Allen in End of Time and Taylor Boy in the uptempo and groovy Turbulence. All in all this album is a fantastic piece of work. Watch out for Tiffany J is going far in 2016. You can follow her on Twitter, like her on Facebook and also make sure you download the album here.
